Lord of the Flies
Chapter 10- The Shell and the Glasses
"Why don't they realize it?"
POV: Simon
Dear Diary,
They still don't relize how terrible this island is and they don't realize how savage they are becoming. Even after my death they don't relize what the beast is. Ralph and Piggy disscused what happened the night before and they were both in denail. Ralph almost addmitted it but them Piggy convinced him that he had just been with him on the outside and hadn't actually done anything. They were in denail that they went barmy. It is sad that they don't confront it and try to purge themselves from it. Samneric are in denail too. They are the Beastie though. Everyone is but there are still scared of it for they do not know what it is.
Jack took a different approach to excuse my death. He said that it was the Beastie in disguise. All of the boy took the fake illumination with suprising ease. All of the biguns are with Jack now and a few of the littleuns. He rules with almost, well, fear mixed in with a bloody leadership that is centered around hunting. All of the boys are more open to embrace voilence when Jack encourages it. He tied up one of the boys, Wilfred, and beat and none of the boys breally knows why. But they are fine with it. Jack encourages it. That is what got me killed.
But Jack can't make fire. Even the great hunter can not do that. So they need to raid Ralph's camp for fire, again. But now that they have killed once what is to stop them from doing it again? They might not refrain if someone gets in their way. But when Jack, Robert, and Maurice get their there was no fire. The other boys couldn't keep it going and so they let it out for the night. When they figure out that there is no fire they come up with a new plan. They attacked the boys. It was pure choas. Everyone was attacking each other and it was a mess and no one really knew what was going on or who thry were hitting. Ralph ended up hitting Eric quite well. But he was energized when the other boys face became sticky with blood. That was the beast that killed me. And at the end of the night Jack came away with the glasses and the beast lives on. The theological speculation of the beast being in you is dead along with me.
