What do you think about a particular character's(Skeeter) actions? Was he/she right or wrong to do that?
I think Skeeter is doing the right thing by trying to tell maids story's. No one else will listen to them because they are black and all the white families think they are just there to raise children and clean. But there hear and see so much more then anyone else. Their story's are interesting and moving but because they are black no one will listen to them. Skeeter was raised by her maid and she taught her about everything, she showed Skeeter that everyone has a view and that you should never cower or back down. I think that she should tell everyone what really happens to maids because no one else will listen. They are storys that need to be told.
What in the book upsets you or bothers you? Why?
In The Help there is a character named Hilly, she is the leader of the Jackson Junior League and very proactive against blacks. She wants to pass a bill that says every single black must never use the same toilet as white people. She believes they aren't really people and they are dirty and full of diseases. I hate all of her views and it really bothers me that she thinks that and I really hate her. She is so full of herself all the time and hates anyone who doesn't share her views. She is like that popular girl in high school that everyone goes along with because they are too scared to stand up and say anything against her. But Skeeter does and Hilly makes her pay by kicking her out of all social groups. Hilly's views and her determination to make blacks lives miserable really upsets me and makes her one of those characters you love to hate.
